Museum of the Russian-Turkish War of Liberation
The two-storey 12-room building functioned as a Turkish dwelling where Mehmed Bey, the governor of Byala, lived at the end of Ottoman domination. During the Russo-Turkish war, it was home to the main imperial lodge. Here lived Russian Emperor Alexander II, Military Minister Dimitriy Miliutin, Count N. Ignatiev, painter Pavel Kovalevski, the great Prince Al. Alexandrovich and other military and civilians. Two military councils were held in this house, whose decisions are crucial to the overall course of the war. One of them is General Gurko with the future Bulgarian Prince Batenberg.
After the liberation, the building was repaired and turned into a stone fence-style medieval fortress
